Collection: Bluetooth Receivers & Transmitters

A Bluetooth receiver accepts an incoming wireless signal and converts it to a wired audio output, letting you stream music to speakers or amplifiers that lack built-in Bluetooth. A transmitter works in reverse — it takes the audio from a wired output (such as a TV's headphone or optical jack) and broadcasts it wirelessly to headphones or speakers. Yes. A Bluetooth transmitter connected to your TV's headphone jack, RCA outputs or optical (Toslink) port will broadcast audio wirelessly to any Bluetooth headphones or speakers. Look for a transmitter that supports the same codec as your headphones (aptX Low Latency is best for avoiding audio-video sync issues). Bluetooth 5.0 or higher offers better range (up to 10–30 m in practice), lower power consumption and improved stability compared to older versions. For audio quality, prioritise aptX HD for high-resolution music or aptX Low Latency if lip-sync with video matters. SBC is the universal fallback codec supported by all Bluetooth devices. AAC is preferred for Apple devices. Check the codec compatibility of both your source and your headphones or speakers before buying.

Most consumer-grade Bluetooth adapters achieve a practical range of 10 to 20 metres in open space. Walls, furniture and other wireless devices can reduce this. Class 1 transmitters (higher power) can reach up to 100 m outdoors, though this is rarely needed for home or office use. Standard Bluetooth typically allows one active audio connection at a time, but many modern transmitters support Bluetooth multipoint or dual-link technology, enabling simultaneous connection to two devices. Some also support audio sharing features found in newer Bluetooth versions. Check the product specifications carefully if you need to stream to two pairs of headphones at once — for example for watching TV together without disturbing others.

Bluetooth audio introduces some latency, which can cause a noticeable gap between video and audio when watching TV. The best way to minimise this is to use a transmitter and headphones that both support aptX Low Latency codec, which keeps delay under 40 ms — imperceptible to most viewers.
