Conduit clips and saddle clamps are used to fix electrical conduit (rigid PVC, flexible or metal tube) to walls, ceilings, cable trays and other surfaces at regular intervals. They hold the conduit in position, prevent sagging and keep cable runs looking neat and professionally installed.

Measure the outside diameter (OD) of your conduit and match it to the clip's stated diameter. Common sizes run from 16mm to 32mm and above. Using a clip that is too large allows movement; one that is too small will not fit or will stress the conduit. Check the product specification before ordering.

Spacing depends on the conduit diameter, material and whether the run is horizontal or vertical. As a general guide, rigid PVC conduit is typically clipped every 300–500mm on horizontal runs and every 500–750mm on vertical runs, though always refer to local wiring regulations for the required intervals on your specific installation.

Many clips in this range are made from UV-stabilised PVC or nylon, making them suitable for sheltered outdoor use. For fully exposed outdoor installations or harsh environments, choose metal clips with a corrosion-resistant finish such as zinc plating. Always check the product specification for its rated IP or environment category.

Fixing conduit clips to a surface is a straightforward task that a competent DIYer can handle. However, any work involving live electrical cables, consumer units or fixed wiring must comply with local regulations and should be carried out or inspected by a qualified electrician to ensure safety and compliance.

A conduit clip typically snaps around the conduit and is fixed with a single fastener, making installation quick. A conduit saddle (or pipe saddle) wraps around the conduit and is secured with two screws for a more robust hold. Saddles are preferred on longer runs or where vibration may be a factor.
