Collection: Illuminated Rocker Switches

An illuminated rocker switch is a standard rocker-style on/off switch with a built-in LED indicator that lights up when the switch is in the on position. The LED gives instant visual confirmation that the circuit is active, which is particularly useful in control panels, marine applications, automotive dashboards and anywhere else where quickly checking circuit status matters.

Illuminated rocker switches in this range are available for 12V DC, 24V DC and 230V AC circuits. The 12V and 24V DC versions are common in marine, automotive, caravan and off-grid applications, while 230V AC rockers are used in domestic and commercial mains panels. Always match the switch's rated voltage to your circuit — using a DC-rated switch on an AC circuit, or vice versa, can cause the LED to fail or the switch to operate incorrectly.

Common LED indicator colours for illuminated rocker switches include red, green, amber, blue and white. Red and amber are traditionally used for warning or active circuits, green signals a safe or on state, and blue or white suits modern panel aesthetics. Check the individual product listing for the available colour options, as not every model is offered in every colour.

Most standard illuminated rocker switches require a rectangular panel cut-out of approximately 19×13mm or 21×15mm, though larger or sub-miniature versions exist. The switch body snaps into the cut-out and is held in place by plastic retaining tabs, requiring no additional hardware. Always check the cut-out dimensions and minimum/maximum panel thickness stated in the product datasheet before drilling your panel to avoid a poor fit.

Many illuminated rocker switches are designed specifically for marine use and carry an IP rating (commonly IP65 or IP66) that protects against water spray and dust ingress. For outdoor or exposed applications, always select a switch with an appropriate IP rating and UV-resistant housing. Standard indoor rockers are not rated for exposure to moisture and should only be used in protected enclosures. Check the product specification for the IP rating before purchase.

A three-terminal illuminated rocker switch typically has a common terminal, a load terminal and an LED supply terminal. Connect the positive supply to the common terminal, the load (device being switched) to the load terminal, and the LED supply terminal back to the same positive supply so the LED lights when the switch is on. On 230V AC models the third terminal is usually a neutral for the LED lamp. Always follow the wiring diagram printed on the switch body or supplied in the product datasheet, and ensure the circuit is de-energised before wiring.
