Optical Audio Cables (TOSLINK)
Optical audio cables carry sound as light through a fibre, so the signal is completely immune to electrical interference and ground loops. They are a popular way to connect TVs, soundbars, consoles and AV receivers for clean digital audio. Explore a carefully selected range of optical audio cables for reliable, noise-free sound.
What TOSLINK supports
The standard TOSLINK optical connection handles stereo PCM and compressed surround formats such as Dolby Digital and DTS. For uncompressed high-end surround you may need HDMI instead, but for most home setups optical is plenty. For analogue links see Microphone Cables.
Connectors and fit
Most cables use the square TOSLINK connector, often with a protective cap. Make sure your TV or soundbar has an optical (S/PDIF) output before buying. For other digital and signal needs, see Screened Signal Cables.
Length and handling
Optical cables can run several metres without loss, but avoid sharp bends that can damage the fibre. Add reach with Audio Extension Cables where supported, browse all Audio Cables, and pair with gear in TV & Audio.
