Check the cable's outer diameter and pick a gland whose stated cable range covers it, then match the thread (e.g. M20) to the enclosure hole. A correct match gives both a watertight seal and firm grip. See related parts in Cable Management.

The IP rating shows resistance to dust and water; a higher second digit means better water protection. For outdoor or damp locations choose a higher-rated gland. For exterior runs combine with weather-rated Cable Trunking.

Pass the cable through the gland body, fit the body into the enclosure hole and secure it with the locknut, then tighten the dome nut to compress the seal onto the cable. Don't over-tighten and crush the cable. See more in Cable Management.
