HDMI Adapters & Audio Extractors
HDMI adapters and extractors solve the everyday connectivity challenges that arise when you need to connect devices with different video outputs, convert between HDMI sizes or separate the audio signal from an HDMI stream for a dedicated sound system. Whether you are connecting a laptop with a micro HDMI port to a full-size display, feeding an HDMI source into a receiver that only accepts optical audio, or building a multi-room AV distribution system, the right adapter or extractor keeps your setup clean, reliable and cable-clutter-free. At Lynk.gr we stock a carefully selected range of HDMI adapters and extractors for home, studio and commercial AV use.
HDMI Adapter Types
HDMI connectors come in three sizes: Standard HDMI (Type A — the full-size connector found on TVs and most AV equipment), Mini HDMI (Type C — common on older cameras and some tablets) and Micro HDMI (Type D — found on compact cameras, some smartphones and ultrabooks). Passive adapters convert between these sizes with no signal processing. Active adapters handle more complex conversions, such as HDMI to DisplayPort or HDMI to VGA, which require signal processing. For HDMI-to-RF distribution, explore our HDMI Matrix Switches & Modulators.
HDMI Audio Extractors
An HDMI audio extractor splits the audio stream from an HDMI signal, outputting it simultaneously as analogue stereo (RCA or 3.5mm) and/or digital (optical TOSLINK or coaxial S/PDIF) while passing the video through to the display. This is the clean solution when your TV or projector lacks an audio output that your amplifier or soundbar needs, or when you want to feed HDMI audio to a multi-zone audio system. Look for extractors supporting the audio formats used by your source (PCM stereo, Dolby Digital, DTS).
Choosing the Right HDMI Adapter or Extractor
Key factors: HDMI version support (ensure the adapter supports at least HDMI 2.0 for 4K HDR content), the connector size needed at each end, whether the conversion is passive (size change only) or active (format change), and whether audio extraction is required. For multi-device setups, consider an HDMI splitter or matrix switch from our HDMI Matrix Switches & Modulators range. For other conversion needs, see Video Converters, RF & Coaxial Adapters and USB & USB-C Adapters.
