Find your flange size
The flange is the funnel-shaped part that sits on your breast and draws your nipple into the pump. The right size helps you get the most milk and keeps pumping comfortable. Momcozy pumps include a standard 24 mm flange, with 27 mm flanges and 15–21 mm inserts available for other sizes.
How should your nipple look in the flange?
Too small
Your nipple rubs against the flange tunnel, which can be uncomfortable.
Correct fit
Your nipple fits snugly inside the tunnel and moves freely, without rubbing or pinching.
Too large
Part of your areola is pulled into the tunnel, which can reduce milk output and cause pain.
Two easy ways to measure
Momcozy includes a nipple ruler with sizing holes with its pumps. Measure both sides, as your left and right nipples may differ.
Method 1: a ruler
- Gently stimulate your nipple so it perks up.
- Hold the ruler against your breast, lining up 0 with the base of your nipple, with the edge touching your areola.
- Read the measurement in millimetres: that's your nipple size.
Method 2: a nipple ruler with holes
- Gently stimulate your nipple so it perks up.
- Try the sizing holes one by one. Your nipple should pass completely through while the ruler's edge touches your areola.
- The size marked on the best-fitting hole is your nipple size.
Momcozy flange size chart
Momcozy recommends adding 1–3 mm to your nipple measurement, as nipple size can change while pumping.
| Nipple measurement | Recommended size | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| 11–13 mm | 15 mm | 15 mm insert |
| 13–15 mm | 17 mm | 17 mm insert |
| 15–17 mm | 19 mm | 19 mm insert |
| 17–20 mm | 21 mm | 21 mm insert |
| 21–23 mm | 24 mm | Included, nothing to buy |
| 24–26 mm | 27 mm | 27 mm flange |
| 27–29 mm | 30 mm | Not sold by Momcozy |
Measure after gently stimulating your nipple. Some models, such as the S12 Pro, have their own chart on momcozy.com.

Questions every mum asks
Wearable or hybrid?
Wearable or hybrid?
Wearables (S, M, Air and W ranges) are fully cordless and self-contained, ideal for moving around and discretion. Hybrids (V1 Pro, V2 Pro) keep the motor in a separate controller: lighter cups and more power, with a tube as the trade-off.
Should pumping hurt?
Should pumping hurt?
No. Start in stimulation mode on a low level and increase gradually. If you feel pain or rubbing, the flange size is the most common cause, so check it using Momcozy's size guide. If pain continues, speak to your midwife or a lactation consultant.
How long is a pumping session?
How long is a pumping session?
Momcozy's battery figures assume sessions of around 20–30 minutes. Many Momcozy wearables (including the S9 Pro, S12 Pro, M5 Smart, M6 and M9) switch off automatically after 30 minutes.
Can I bend over while wearing one?
Can I bend over while wearing one?
Try to stay fairly upright. Reviews of open-top designs, such as the M6 and M9, mention milk spilling when leaning forward. The Air 1 has a tilt sensor that pauses pumping to prevent spills.
How do I clean it?
How do I clean it?
Wash all milk-contact parts with warm water and mild detergent after every use and let them dry fully. Momcozy advises sterilising by boiling or steam at up to 100 °C and not using the microwave. Several models have only 3–4 parts to wash.
Do I need a double pump?
Do I need a double pump?
If you pump often, a double pump saves time by expressing from both breasts at once. A single pump suits occasional use, or pumping one side while feeding on the other.
What if I'm between flange sizes?
What if I'm between flange sizes?
Momcozy suggests trying an insert first. If you're still between insert sizes, it's generally best to choose the slightly larger size.
