Heavy-gauge tubing has thicker walls for greater impact resistance, suited to exposed or industrial areas, while medium-gauge is lighter for protected indoor runs. Choose based on how much mechanical protection the location needs.

Rigid tubing is meant for straight runs and uses preformed bends and elbows at corners rather than flexing. For routes with continuous curves or movement, use flexible conduit instead. See Flexible Conduits.

You'll need couplings to join lengths, bends for corners, and connectors to enter boxes and panels. Plan these for each junction so the run stays neat and serviceable. Find them in Couplings & Fittings.

Use a fine-tooth saw or a pipe cutter, then deburr the cut edge so it doesn't damage cable insulation when pulling. A clean, square cut also seats fittings properly. Find suitable cutters in Tools.

Many PVC conduits are self-extinguishing and flame-retardant, but properties vary by product, so check the item details before specifying for demanding installs. Choose the grade that matches your application's requirements.
