A conduit box coupler (also called a conduit entry connector or gland) is a fitting that secures the end of a conduit into the knockout hole of a junction box, distribution board or electrical enclosure. It prevents cables from chafing against the raw edge of the hole and keeps the conduit mechanically locked in place. Match the coupler size to the outside diameter of your conduit — common metric sizes are 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm and 40 mm. Also confirm the knockout diameter in your enclosure matches the coupler's body diameter. A conduit box coupler connects a conduit to an enclosure or junction box — it has a threaded or push-fit section designed for the enclosure knockout and a locknut to secure it. A conduit coupling (or sleeve) joins two lengths of conduit end-to-end within the run. Both are essential parts of a complete conduit system. There are separate coupler types for rigid and flexible conduit — they are not interchangeable. Rigid-conduit box couplers have a smooth bore sized to the conduit's outer diameter. Flexible-conduit box couplers have a barbed or corrugated inner grip designed to hold corrugated flexible conduit securely. Always match the coupler type to your conduit type. Some conduit box couplers include an integral rubber or silicone sealing washer that provides IP54 or IP65 protection at the entry point when correctly installed. Standard unrated couplers offer no IP sealing on their own — the enclosure's knockouts will determine the overall ingress protection. If you need a sealed entry for outdoor or damp environments, look for couplers explicitly rated to the IP level you require.
