Count the total number of satellite receivers or tuners you need to feed. A 5×4 multiswitch covers 4 outputs (4 rooms or tuners); a 5×8 covers 8. For larger installations, choose cascadable or trunk multiswitch systems.

Yes — most satellite multiswitches include a terrestrial (DVB-T/T2) input that is distributed alongside the satellite signal to every output. This means a single coax cable to each room carries both satellite and terrestrial TV.

It depends on cable length and the number of outputs. Longer cable runs and more outputs mean more signal loss. In those cases, a TV Antenna Amplifier before the multiswitch helps maintain adequate signal level at every receiver.
