IR Repeaters & Extenders for Hidden AV Equipment
IR repeaters and extenders let you operate your AV equipment — set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, media players, amplifiers — even when they are hidden inside a closed cabinet, behind a wall panel, or in a different room. A sensor picks up the infrared signal from your remote and re-transmits it directly to the device, so you never need to open a door or point the remote at anything specific. Our carefully selected range covers compact single-device kits through to multi-zone IR distribution systems.
How IR repeaters work
An IR repeater kit typically includes a receiver eye placed where you point your remote, a connecting cable or wireless transmitter, and one or more emitter blasters that stick onto the IR window of each device. The system passes the signal through, keeping control invisible and reliable. Wired systems are the most stable; wireless IR extenders suit installations where running a cable is not practical.
Single-zone vs. multi-zone
If you need to control a rack of devices in one location, a single-zone repeater is enough. Multi-zone or multi-emitter kits let you relay IR commands to several devices independently, useful in home-cinema racks or AV cupboards with multiple sources. Check the number of emitter outputs and the supported IR frequency range before buying.
Pair with the right accessories
For a complete hidden-AV setup, combine an IR repeater with an HDMI Switch or Splitter to route video from concealed sources, and tidy every connection with cables from Power & Cables.
