Bundle your cables and choose a channel with enough internal width and depth to hold them comfortably, plus a little spare for future additions. Avoid overfilling, which makes the lid hard to close. See related parts in Cable Management.

Self-adhesive types stick to clean, dry, smooth surfaces, while screw-fixed types use plugs and screws for a stronger hold on plaster or brick. For lighter, shorter runs you can also use Cable Clips instead of full trunking.

It's best to separate mains power from data and signal cables to avoid interference, and many trunking profiles have a divider for this. If in doubt, use separate channels. For desk wiring see Computing accessories.

Most PVC trunking can be over-painted to match the wall once cleaned and lightly keyed. Use a paint suitable for plastic for best adhesion. It blends well into TV-wall installs alongside TV & Audio setups.

A fine-tooth hacksaw or a sharp utility knife scores and cuts most PVC trunking cleanly; a small mitre helps for neat corners. Deburr the edges so cables don't snag. Finish joints with Heat Shrink Tubing where needed.

Standard indoor trunking isn't UV- or weather-rated, so for outdoors choose a product specified for exterior use. Where cables pass into enclosures outside, seal entries with Cable Glands. See the full Cable Management range.
