Choose a diameter that lets the cable bundle pull through without force, leaving spare capacity for future wires and heat dissipation. Diameters are listed per product. As a rule of thumb, do not fill the conduit completely; leave room so you can re-pull cables later.

Use rigid PVC for visible surface runs that need a clean, straight look and stronger mechanical protection. Use flexible spiral or corrugated conduit for concealed runs in walls and ceilings where it must bend around obstacles. Many jobs combine both.

Use conduit rated for buried use, install it at a safe depth and seal the ends to keep moisture out. Choose UV-stable, higher-strength types for the exit points. Buried supply runs should follow regulations and be checked by a qualified electrician.

Only choose UV-resistant, weather-rated conduit for outdoor exposure; standard indoor spiral can become brittle in sunlight over time. Check each product's stated rating, and protect any junctions with weatherproof boxes and enclosures.

Use matching connectors or glands sized to the conduit diameter so the entry is secure and, where needed, sealed. Many boxes and enclosures have pre-marked knockouts. Match the connector thread or push-fit type to both the conduit and the box.

It depends on the product. Flexible spiral and corrugated conduit usually come in rolls of a set length, while rigid PVC is sold in lengths. Check each listing for the quantity and length so you order enough for your run plus a little spare.
