Conduit Box Couplers – Connect Conduit Runs to Enclosures

Conduit box couplers are the fittings that connect the end of a conduit run — rigid or flexible — to a junction box, back-box or electrical enclosure. They create a secure, mechanically strong entry point that protects cables from chafing at the conduit edge and, in many cases, provides an element of IP ingress protection for the enclosure. Choosing the right coupler ensures your conduit system holds together under vibration, thermal cycling and day-to-day use.

Rigid vs. Flexible Conduit Box Couplers

Rigid PVC conduit couplers are designed to fit standard round or oval conduit with a fixed outside diameter. They screw or push into a threaded knockout on the enclosure and lock with a back-nut. Flexible conduit box couplers feature a smooth or corrugated gland body that grips flexible conduit while allowing a small degree of movement — important in machinery and panel wiring where vibration is present. For the conduit itself, see our Rigid PVC Tubing and Flexible Conduits ranges within the broader Conduits & Tubing family.

Size and Thread Standards

Box couplers are sized to match metric conduit outside diameters — most commonly 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm and 40 mm. The thread form for the locknut is typically metric ISO or PG (Panzergewinde) — confirm which standard your enclosure uses before ordering. Wrong-thread combinations can cross-thread and damage both the coupler and the enclosure knock-out. Complementary fittings such as Couplings & Fittings and Conduit Angle & T-Joint Couplers complete a full conduit installation.

IP Rating Considerations

If you need IP54 or higher protection at the entry point, choose a coupler with an integral sealing ring or a separate IP-rated gland. The coupler's IP rating must match or exceed the enclosure's rating — a weak entry point undermines the overall protection level of the assembly. For outdoor or wet-area wiring, this is especially important.
