Collection: Crimping Tools

A ratchet crimper applies full, consistent force every time and only releases when the crimp is complete. This gives repeatable, reliable joints, unlike simple crimpers where pressure depends on hand strength.

If you mostly do one job, a dedicated crimper is simplest. If you handle many connector types, a frame with interchangeable heads is more versatile and economical over time.

Strip the cable, order the wires to your standard (T568A/B), insert fully into the plug, then squeeze the RJ45 crimper until the ratchet releases. Test continuity afterwards. See related computing gear.

Check the tool's rated range in mm² or AWG and pick a die slot that matches your conductor. The right size gives a gas-tight crimp; wrong sizing causes loose or crushed joints in power and cable work.

For many connectors a proper crimp is preferred because it stays flexible and resists vibration. Soldering can make joints brittle. Where soldering is needed, see soldering stations.

The ratchet locks until full pressure is reached, so it will not open mid-cycle by design. If it jams, most tools have a release lever. Avoid forcing oversized connectors, which can stall the mechanism.
