The Golden Interstar ALPHA X is a Full HD satellite receiver built on a Linux operating system. Its DVB-S2X tuner covers 950–2400 MHz and supports T2-MI PLS MultiStream reception — the standard used by several satellite operators to distribute programme signals to terrestrial or cable head-ends. Beyond satellite, it functions as a multimedia player, an IPTV client (Stalker middleware and Xtream-compatible), and a DLNA media server.

The receiver decodes H.265/HEVC, H.264, MPEG-2/4, AVS and AVS+, and outputs video in resolutions up to 1080p. DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and USALS are supported for motorised dish control. A Conax card reader is built in, and external conditional access can be added via the USB ports.
